Featured Couple – Dallas & Kelli

A true love story that as told by Kelli Nilsson, the soon to be Mrs. Dodd…
Dallas and I met in class my senior year at Texas Tech, working on a project together. We exchanged numbers, and he called me to “ask questions about the project” (he might have had other motives).
The conversation was so natural, and he kept me laughing the whole time. I’ll never forget hanging up that call and being like, “Wow. He’s awesome.”
After the project, we continued to hang out until my graduation. Since I was moving back to Dallas, and he had two more years at Tech, we decided to keep it casual. We both knew it wasn’t what we really wanted, but we also wanted to be realistic.
About six months later, he came to visit me in Dallas, and we decided we wanted to commit to a long-distance relationship. We knew it would be tough, but we made the effort to not go more than a few weeks without seeing each other.
Once he graduated from Tech, he moved back to Dallas and we got an apartment together. After a few years, we bought our house, which was our ultimate goal and what we feel is our biggest accomplishment. But of course, everyone was wondering when the heck we were going to make it official!
After 7 years together, Dallas proposed on a Christmas Caribbean cruise. Being our usual selves, we enjoyed a nice two year long engagement. But we are excited to finally celebrate our relationship, and joining of our families October 13th!
