I was recently reminded of the power and meaningfulness of photography in the form of a thank you gift. As part of our efforts to give back to our community we had provided our venue and logistical support to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for the Women of Hope Awards Luncheon. After the event, I received a beautifully mounted photograph of a lighthouse in Maine taken by the NBCF President, Kevin Hail, with a touching note describing our efforts as a “lighthouse in the community”. Not only was this one of the most thoughtful and beautiful gifts I’ve ever received, it also got me thinking about the power of photography.
I have always known photography is an art form, but I have developed a deeper appreciation. When you look at a photo you are seeing the world through the eyes of that artist. It is literally a snapshot into the artist’s perspective. Great photographers can anticipate a moment before it happens. I find it interesting to look at a photo and imagine what was going through the photographer’s mind – what angle to take, what technique should be used, what they were anticipating – all to capture that perfect moment.
One of the most exciting and gratifying things of owning a venue is seeing the thousands of pictures people post on their social media. It never gets old to see Verona Villa in the background of a Facebook profile pic from guests that attended an event or even a wedding party – it is super cool! The smiles, the hugs, the dancing and the tender moments captured fill our team’s buckets daily.
We are so fortunate at Verona Villa to have the opportunity to work with tremendously talented photographers from near and far and they are some of our favorite people to build relationships with. We are always inspired by talent and beauty and these folks are no exception! Let us help you find the perfect photographer for your next special event. 1-2-3 Smile!
